A stepping motor is a kind of actuator that converts electric pulse into angular displacement.

In general: When the stepper driver receives a pulse signal, it drives the stepper motor according to the set direction to rotate at a fixed angle (and step angle).

You can control the angular displacement by controlling the number of pulses to achieve accurate positioning. At the same time, you can control the speed and acceleration of the motor by controlling the pulse frequency, thus achieving the goal of speed control.

There are three types of stepper motors: permanent magnet (PM), reactive (VR), and hybrid (HB).

Permanent magnet stepping is generally two-phase, small torque and volume, stepping angle is generally 7.5 degrees or 15 degrees;

Reactive stepping is generally three-phase, can achieve a large torque output, step angle is generally 1.5 degrees, but the noise and vibration are very large. In Europe and the United States and other developed countries in the 1980s has been eliminated;

The hybrid servo stepper motor is a hybrid of permanent and reactive advantages. It is divided into two phases and five phases: the two-phase step angle is generally 1.8 degrees and the five-phase step angle is generally 0.72 degrees. This type of stepping motor is the most widely used.

Why is the hybrid servo stepper motor hot?

When the hybrid servo stepper motor is running, the core of the hybrid servo stepper motor in the alternating magnetic field will produce iron loss, copper loss, and another stray loss after the winding is electrified, which will make the hybrid servo stepper motor temperature rise.

The hybrid servo stepper motor, on the other hand, also radiates heat. When the heat is equal to the heat dissipation, the motor reaches a state of equilibrium. When the heat output increases or the heat dissipation decreases, it will destroy the equilibrium, so that the temperature continues to rise, expand the temperature difference, then increase the heat dissipation, in another higher temperature to reach a new equilibrium.
