Why Do 1500w AC Servo Motor Need Drivers?
The speed of an ordinary 1500w ac servo motor is about 1400 rpm. Why 1400? Because the general power supply is 220 V, 50 Hz, i.e. 1653 per second, 50 phase changes per second. Generally, the motor is 4-pole, that is, the phase is changed twice and turns one circle. In addition, the ordinary AC motor is not synchronous and it is AC asynchronous motor, so it is slower than the theoretical speed of 50 / 2 * 60 = 1500, so it is usually 1400 rpm about. It can be seen that the speed of the motor can be changed by changing the power supply frequency. The controller corresponding to the ordinary motor is called a frequency converter.
Servo motor control is more complex, needs to change the frequency, voltage, current, in order to achieve comprehensive control of motor speed, torque, position, servo driver is for this purpose. Servo motor is only responsible for how much frequency and voltage you give me, I will do the corresponding thing. The servo controller is responsible for the change of frequency, voltage, and direction.
In addition, the servo controller does not have the ability to logic control. If the servo motor is required to rotate slowly and then fast, stop at a certain place, and then reverse, etc., these signals are responsible by the higher-level controller of the servo controller, such as PLC, such as motion controller.
